Why U No 205?

After watching tonights Top Gear, I was thinking which hot hatch I would have picked. And I came up with this. Why did none of them choose a 205 GTI?

I was wondering that too. I think they were given a budget, based on the sub-£1000 price of all the cars they chose.

Mk 2 Golf, Fiesta XR4i and a Nova. Frankly, with what they did to the cars, I'm glad none of them got a 205.

Because one that will work for more than 10 seconds costs well over their £1000 budget. Try finding a Mk.1 Golf GTI for a grand.

A Mk.2 Golf GTI, Ford Fiesta XR2i (16v, no less) and a Vauxhall Nova SRi. It was a cheap car challenge to "prove" that old hot hatches are better.
